More and more people use search images to find what they want on the Internet. In fact, by 2009 this figure was 13% of searches. This means that if you do not optimize images and no images, no chance, have been performed for this research. You are missing out on traffic of at least 13%, but possibly much more on that later.
They are aware of image search, I'm sure. But just to be safe. Image Search is essentially the image search on search engines like Google and Bing. In fact, Google Image Search is very popular and has recently undergone a facelift. If you have not tried, for images that would be better looking, if you have already read this post, you can register here.
I said, in the first paragraph that you missed out on much more than just 13%. There are two reasons for this:
1) Search picture is less well known that the webmaster normal looking, which means there is less competition for the first page. Basically, with little effort, it is easy for you to show on the first page to search for images. But with a normal search, there are tons of competition and it is very difficult to grow up on page 1 for a keyword.
2) Google has recently changed the format of the sequence to the first 10 pages or more, before settling on the top of the nest to ads. In fact, in some cases I have found the "first page" with the results on page 32.
3) In certain sectors or niches Image Search accounts for more than 13% of searches. 40% of the pictures are looking to things like business travel and shopping together. Other examples could be the food industry, if your site has recipes are the chances of a high portion of your traffic is from search requests to move from picture to see because the people do what they want to do before.
All in all, this type of research is good for your business because you can easily optimize images now and forward from the crowd. So you can start driving some traffic today.
